Our Story

Howdy! I’m Andie, Founder of Rhizos LLC

Rhizos was born out of a deep-rooted passion for soil and the life it supports. My journey to this work started in 2012 at Texas A&M University when a soil microbiology course opened my eyes to the hidden world beneath our feet. A year later, while interning at a vermicompost facility, I became hooked on composting and urban farming. What I didn’t yet realize was that soil life is not a given—it must be stewarded.

Years of on-farm and research experiences, plus continued study and reflection taught me the ways in which our common cultivation practices disrupt plant-microbe interactions, creating a dependency on costly inputs. However, I also learned something hopeful: there are all sorts of accessible ways to start restoring and leveraging biological processes.

As someone who has been responsible for greenhouses and growth chambers full of plants, I know firsthand the uncertainty in cultivation and the constant fear of nutrient deficiencies, pests, or diseases that seem to appear overnight. That’s why I created Rhizos: to help hard-working people improve their ecological resilience and reduce a business’s dependency on ever-increasing inputs by restoring health to the soil starting with the first trophic level – the microbes – upon which everything else depends.

As a land steward, you're doing some of the most important work of our time. It would be an honor to partner with you to create a healthier, more resilient and cost-effective future for you and your business or organization.

Warmly,

Andie

Our Purpose

Who We Serve

At Rhizos, we partner with compost makers and land stewards of all kinds, specializing in contexts where livestock integration isn’t feasible—crop farming, ecological restoration, urban green spaces, and turf grass management. Our clients often face challenges with costly inputs like fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and irrigation and are looking for solutions that are more ecologically and financially sound.

What We Do
We assess the biological health of soil, compost, and bioamendments using a microscope, providing visibility into the foundation of soil health that is at play in your operation. Our tailored communications meet you where you're at in your understanding of soil biological processes.

In short, Rhizos’ services and expertise support a holistic approach to landscape health, helping you work with natural processes rather than against them!

Why We Care

Stewarding land in the face of a changing climate is no small task. If you’re feeling stuck—overwhelmed by endless demands and unsure where to begin—you’re not alone. At Rhizos, we strive to be your thought partner, to help you identify practical, impactful changes that truly improve soil health and restore ecological function across the broader landscape.

Whether you're growing food, turf or managing public lands, our goal is to help you steward with confidence, knowing you’re leaving the land better than you found it.

Ways to Connect
